Summary

Praise for the previous edition:
"...the complexity of issues is not glossed over. Students will find the book accessible and useful for research."—Booklist

Scientific research illuminates the causes of air pollution—those both natural and manmade—and shows how pollution is distributed from sources to final destinations. Now more than ever, it is imperative that political leaders find a balance between a healthy environment and economic prosperity.

Air Pollution shows how scientists and engineers are working to help policy-makers solve the problems of atmospheric pollution. It discusses society's delicate relationship with science and technology and covers the role citizens play in pushing for an atmospheric environment that is as clean as possible.

An update to Into Thin Air, this book addresses the many changes air pollution has undergone in recent years, such as reductions in the levels of sulfur oxides, nitrogen oxides, and lead in the air.
