Summary

Marijuana is the most widely used illegal drug in the United States. Since gaining popularity in the mid-1960s, it has been clouded in controversy. Because marijuana has both damaging and healing effects, the drug’s illegality is constantly debated. Unlike some other harmful illegal substances, marijuana can be prescribed by doctors and used medicinally in some parts of the country. Marijuana traces the full history of this controversial drug and explains both the positive and negative effects it can have on the body and mind and explores why it currently is illegal to possess.
